Upon starting 161 Dental Studio, it was important for me to partner up with an organization that shares in my values, ideals and drive to impact the world we live in. I have always had a passion for kids and getting them interested in the STEM field, as that was a huge part of my life growing up. More importantly in young girls. It is no secret that the number of girls in the STEM field is abysmal, and so getting young girls empowered and motivated to knowing that they can accomplish what they set their mind too especially at a young age is truly a passion of mine.
The PAST foundation was founded in 2000 founded by anthropologists and scientists with a goal to create a state of the art education R&D prototyping facility. They are an organization that brings the future of education to students today! Through challenges, camps and programs the foundation has brought together kids and STEM learning in a truly unique and groundbreaking way. On January 19th 2017, PAST launched the Girls Who Lead (#GirlsWhoLead) as a mechanism to provide a platform for empowering the lives of the next generation of leaders in an ever-evolving global society. The purpose of GWL is to empower future leadership, enhance career exploration and emphasize the need for diversity and inclusion. This movement supports young women pursuing STEM careers and endeavoring to become global leaders. Brilliance, ambition, and confidence have no gender. It is a movement that powers positive role models, mentors, programs, opportunities, and a community of practice that has long-term impact across humanity. GWL promotes the hopes and ambitions of the next generation of thinkers.
Thus in collaboration with The PAST Foundation, 161 Dental Studio is committed to sponsoring a young girl in the 4 th – 8 th grade in participating in one of the many STEM summer camps offered. Thus for every ten new patients we see, we contribute $10 towards a young girls tuition to the summer program.
Our hope that, is that 161 Dental Studio acts as a vessel to inspire young girls that they too can be leaders, innovators and change the world!
